Minister of Uzbekistan receives the copies of credentials from newly appointed Ambassador of Italy

Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan, Bakhtiyor Saidov, today received the newly appointed Ambassador of Italy, Guido De Sanctis, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

“Received the copies of credentials from H.E. Guido De Sanctis, the newly appointed Ambassador of Italy to Uzbekistan. - the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan wrote in his telegram-channel. - During the meeting, we discussed the current state and prospects of bilateral cooperation, with a particular focus on expanding trade, investment, and economic ties. Underscored the importance of further developing practical cooperation and encouraging business-to-business contacts.

Wish Mr. Ambassador every success and productive tenure in our country”.

It is recalled that Uzbekistan and Italy established diplomatic relations on March 24, 1992.

The new Italian ambassador, Guido de Sanctis, is 64 years old. A career diplomat, he has held senior positions in Italy’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and its foreign missions since 1991, including serving as ambassador to Qatar from 2013 to 2017. He is fluent in English and Russian.

Guido de Sanctis succeeds Piergabriele Papadia de Bottini, who was accredited as Italy’s ambassador to Uzbekistan in 2024-2025.
