Moscow hosts the 20th meeting of Uzbekistan – Russia Intergovernmental Commission

On April 24, Moscow hosted the 20th meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The event was chaired by the Minister of Economy and Industry of the Republic of Uzbekistan B. Khojayev and Minister of Economic Development of the Russian Federation M. Oreshkin.

The meeting was attended by representatives of the Commission of both countries, leaders and senior officials of ministries, agencies and other state governing bodies and economic entities of Uzbekistan and Russia.

The parties held substantive talks in a contracted format. The ministers discussed the current state of bilateral cooperation and prospects for its further development. Issues of preparation for the meeting of the Joint Commission at the level of heads of government of Uzbekistan and Russia were discussed.

At the meeting, information of the parties was heard on implementation of the decisions of the Protocol of the nineteenth meeting of the Commission. Issues of development of trade and economic cooperation, including in the fuel and energy complex, the nuclear industry, agriculture and transport, were considered.

Participants expressed interest in further expanding cooperation in the fields of communications, information technologies and mass communications, education and science, tourism, culture, health and environmental protection.

Issues of implementing national projects were discussed.

Following the meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission, a joint protocol was signed. It gives specific instructions to responsible ministries and agencies of the two countries on further development of bilateral trade-economic cooperation.
