Mutually beneficial agreements have been reached at the extended meeting

At the extended meeting of Presidents of Uzbekistan and Egypt, main attention was paid to discussion of issues of development of trade and investment cooperation, wide and effective use of available opportunities.

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev noted the availability of great opportunities and reserves for development of trade-economic relations and increasing the trade turnover. Promising directions for expanding the export of goods and services, creating favorable conditions for bilateral trade have been emphasized.

Readiness of Uzbekistan to export goods of electrical, machine-building, metallurgical, chemical and petrochemical, light, food industries, agricultural and other products demanded in the Egyptian market, was noted.

The Egyptian side noted the availability of opportunities for the supply of medicines, medical equipment, furniture, petrochemical products, marble, leather and plastic products, as well as services to Uzbekistan.

An agreement was reached on intensifying activities of the Joint Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation, establishment of Uzbekistan – Egypt Business Council for discussing joint projects and mechanisms for their implementation. Responsible persons were instructed to take measures for reducing transportation costs during export.

Egypt is a country with huge potential and experience in tourism. At present, this sector is also developing rapidly in Uzbekistan. At the negotiations, issues of developing cooperation in this sphere, increasing the flow of Egyptian tourists to Uzbekistan for visiting ancient cities and shrines were discussed. The possibility of establishing flights between Tashkent, Cairo and Hurghada was considered.

Cultural and humanitarian cooperation also acquires positive dynamics. An agreement was reached on establishment of active cooperation between the Al-Azhar University and other scientific-research institutions of Egypt with the International Islamic Academy of Uzbekistan, the Imam Bukhari International Research Center and the Islamic Civilization Center.

Issues of cooperation in the spheres of agriculture, education, culture, sports and others were also discussed at the negotiations.
