NATIONAL LIBRARY HOLDS OPEN DOORS WEEK

The National Library of Uzbekistan is holding an Open Doors week from September 6 to 9, to demonstrate its activities and capabilities. The administration held tours for the newly-registered readers, to tell about the history, activity, possibilities and the library’s resources. They also held presentations and training sessions to access foreign research databases and use the peer research bases.

Visitors may learn about the library’s possibilities, including how to use the catalogue and card index files (electronic, alphabetic, and systemic), how to order books, and how to utilise foreign online databases. They may also acquaint themselves about the information desk, the Internet, and Wi-Fi connection.

On the first day, the students of Tashkent Railway Transport Engineer Institute, Tashkent Financial Institute, Uzbek State Physical Education Institute, state schools, lyceums, and colleges could see a documentary about the history and activities of the National Library in the small conference hall.

The Open Doors activities, including the tour around the library and its museum, impressed the visitors.

Every 25th registered user was presented with special gifts by the National Library of Uzbekistan.
