NEW CARGO BANS

As of July 1, 2017, Uzbekistan imposes ban on cargo transportation through the Kamchik Pass by vehicles with an axle load exceeding 11.5 tons.

An exception will be applicable to the vehicles carrying indivisible large-sized and heavy cargoes under special permissions of authorized bodies, as well as vehicles involved in construction, reconstruction, repair and maintenance of road infrastructure at the pass.

The axial load of all equipment will be checked at special checkpoints Chinor in the Ahangaran district of the Tashkent region and Sherobod in the Pap district of the Namangan region. Cabinet of Ministers entrusted the Republican Road Fund and the State Committee for Roads to complete equipping of checkpoints in Tashkent and Namangan regions with modern technological equipment for weight and dimension check, including axle loads of vehicles, by July 1, 2017.

Experts say that the measure was adopted to ensure traffic safety on this section of the road, preserve the roadway integrity, and reduce transportation costs for bulky goods.
