NEW LANGUAGE TEXTBOOKS APPROVED

Fourth-graders in Uzbekistan will now learn foreign languages based on new textbooks.

The textbooks have been prepared based on educational standards and training curricula. In developing the books national specialists have been aided by foreign experts contacts with whom were set up as part of collaboration with the British Council in Tashkent, Goethe Institute and the Embassy of France.

From March 11 to 20 this year, the sets of foreign language textbooks (English, German and French) for fourth-graders were tested in certain school across Tashkent. Teachers that already have experience from previous years have embraced a textbook titled Kids English-4. Using them as an additional resource for regular classes, they held teaching sessions of two hours per week.

Based on the outcomes of work and considering feedback from experimenters and practicing teachers as well as relying on the experience of foreign language teachers, the textbook sets (student’s book, teacher’s book, and multimedia applications) were improved prior to publication.
