NEW PROJECTS SUPPORTED

All necessary conditions for the development of public organizations, mass media and such other civil society institutions have been created in this country during the years of independence. As a result the NGOs operate in many spheres of public and social life and carry out efficient activities in different directions.

This was underlined at the session of the Parliamentary Commission on the management of resources of the Public Fund in support of non-government non-commercial organizations and other civil society institutions under the Oliy Majlis.

“As the major reformer, the state implements measures in the process of democratization aimed at securing the independence of the “third sector”,” admitted Chairman of the Parliamentary Commission Akmal Saidov. “As opposed to foreign practices, there is an open and transparent source of financing the civil society institutions in our country.

“From 2008 till 2016 alone the State has allocated from its budget 58.8 billion soums for supporting the NGO, mass media and other civil society institutions’ projects. The volume of these resources has increased fivefold as compared with the year 2008 and equaled 11 billion soums this year.”

Members of the Parliamentary Commission noted that about 3,5 thousand NGOs, which presented more than 4 thousand projects, had taken part in the contests for winning the State grants of the Public Fund during the last five years. 100 projects and NGO, mass media and other civil society institutions’ programs are being realized on account of government financial assistance in all the regions of the country this year alone.

The Public Fund under the Oliy Majlis reviewed the results of the 3rd and the 4th contests on the allocation of government grants. It was noted that 409 NGOs, mass media and other civil society institutions presented 495 projects for the contest. The Parliamentary Commission issued a resolution in support of 82 projects of NGOs, mass media and other civil society institutions in the amount of 2.3 billion soums.

Also were discussed new tasks related to welcoming deservingly the 25th anniversary of the Republic’s independence and organizing additional contests on the provision of government social orders and the Public Fund grants.
