The Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts in Moscow has hosted a ceremony of opening of an exhibition of the Savitsky State Museum of Art of our country.
It includes more than 250 works of fine and decorative arts, as well as archaeological subjects and is a significant event in the cultural life of Russia and Uzbekistan.
The founder of the museum in Nukus - Igor Vitalievich Savitsky (1915-1984), an artist, collector of paintings, graphics and objects of folk and applied arts, set a goal to show how the easel art originated in Uzbekistan. His efforts began to form a collection of Oriental art, called the "Turkestan avant-garde".
The exhibition at the Pushkin Museum presents the works of artisans of the association "The Jack of Diamonds" - R. Falk, V. Rozhdestvensky, A. Kuprin, representatives of the "Turkestan avant-garde" - A. Volkov, U. Tansykbaev, N. Karakhan, A. Nikolaev (Usto Mumin ), V. Ufimtsev, who sought to develop their own special artistic language to convey the pathos of creative changes in Central Asia. Especially for the exhibition in Moscow, for the first time the symbol of the museum – the painting of V. Lysenko "Bull” left Nukus.
In the graphic part of the exposition there are cubo-futuristic experiments of one of the "amazons" of the Russian avant-garde L. Popova, Suprematist compositions of P. Sokolov, anthropomorphic constructions of G. Yecheistov.
An original dialogue arose between the paintings, archeological exhibits and objects of decorative and applied art. The audience will see ritual and everyday objects related to the burial ceremony in Zoroastrianism, pottery and miniature vessels, polychrome ceramics of the 13th-14th centuries, an anthropomorphic clay sculpture, as well as unique examples of folk art - women’s costumes, elements of the yurt’s decoration.
A part of archeological exhibits was found during excavations in Khorezm - one of the oldest civilization and cultural centers on the territory of Uzbekistan. The exposition is supplemented with some archeological monuments kept in the State Museum of the East in Moscow, also found in Khorezm.
The exhibition in Moscow demonstrates only a small part of the unique collection of the State Museum of Arts of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, which today has about 100 thousand exhibits. As I.Savitsky dreamed, the museum in Nukus became one of the largest in Uzbekistan; it attracts visitors from all over the world and has every opportunity to become an international museum and research center to study its extensive collection.
