Official statement of the State Inspection of Sanitary Epidemiological Control

According to the Head of the State Inspection of Sanitary Epidemiological Control under the Cabinet of Ministers, Chief State Sanitary Inspector of the Republic of Uzbekistan Nurmat Otabekov, as of morning of March 19, the number of registered coronavirus infections in Uzbekistan reached 23 people.

“Of course, this figure differs from yesterday’s, which may give rise to some thoughts. But one thing should be noted: these citizens were identified as a result of checking patients who arrived from France, London, Dubai and Turkey. All of them were isolated from the first days and taken under medical supervision. There is no reason to believe that the virus is widespread among the population.

Measures are controlled by the government, doctors and all organizations. There is no reason to worry or panic.

More than 9 thousand people are under surveillance now. More than six thousand healthy compatriots were sent home. 2300 citizens are under quarantine. State borders are closed, and the movement of railway and automobile transport is restricted. Compatriots who are abroad are returning home.

Quarantine measures in stationary conditions are taken for arriving groups of citizens, and those arriving individually – at home. The main thing is that we have created a stock of diagnostics allowing to diagnose disease, protection and disinfection tools, even hospital beds. We can solve this problem”, said Nurmat Otabekov.
