At the library named after Alisher Navoi in Tashkent was held Scientific and Practical Conference "Teaching English in non-language higher educational institutions: opportunities and challenges". The event was organized Republican Scientific and Practical Center of the development of innovative methods of teaching foreign languages at the Uzbek State University of World Languages.
Our reference: The Republican Scientific and Practical Center of for development of innovative methods of teaching foreign languages under the Uzbek State University of World Languages established on May 23, 2013 in accordance with the regulations of the Republic of Uzbekistan "On measures to improve the activity of the Uzbek State University of World Languages".
The objectives of Centre is to conduct in-depth scientific research aimed at development and introduction of innovative methods of teaching foreign languages in all forms of continuing education, improvement of the regulatory and guidance documents in the field of foreign language learning, providing methodological guidance to higher educational institutions that train teachers and experts in foreign languages, other interested agencies on the practical implementation of modern forms and methods of language teaching, advanced pedagogical technologies of learning foreign languages.
The meeting was attended by representatives of ministries and departments of our country, British Council in Tashkent, the Goethe Institute, as well as teachers of professional colleges and institutions from all regions of Uzbekistan.
They discussed the issues of foreign language teaching and continuity of education of the educational process at all levels, teaching of certain special items in schools, especially on the technical and international specialties in foreign languages.
The participants who made statements at the event noted that Uzbekistan is in the process of upbringing and education of the younger generation, and emphasizes the study of foreign languages. Resolution of the President of our country, "On measures to further improve the learning of foreign languages" from December 10, 2012 is an important legal basis for further improvement of this work.
In recent years, according to this document have been refined state educational standards, curriculum and programs for the study of foreign languages in continuing education. On the basis of a special program of modernization of textbooks and teaching materials in foreign languages are introduced into the practice of integrated curriculum.
It was noted that taking into account international experience in the field of improvement of material and technical basis of teaching foreign languages designed office equipment regulations of a foreign language. Program LINGVO X developed by Tashkent University of Information Technologies, by means of which a computer class on the LAN can work as a language lab.
In addition, together with the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) the work on strengthening the laboratory base of the University of World Economy and Diplomacy, and the Uzbek State University of World Languages is carried out. These high schools organized special courses to create a national system of evaluation of the level of knowledge of foreign languages, training and professional development of teaching staff in this area.
It was emphasized that the current level of education requires teachers to widespread use of interactive teaching methods. To this end, for language teachers from all over the republic organized training on interactive methods such as "brainstorming", "prompt", "questions and answers on cards", "cluster", and in general on using modern teaching and ICT technologies.
