On telephone conversation between the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the President of the Republic of Turkey

On February 26, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev had a telephone conversation with the President of the Republic of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

The President of Uzbekistan sincerely congratulated the President of Turkey on his birthday, expressing the best wishes on this occasion.

The leaders of the two countries noted with satisfaction the positive dynamics of deepening Uzbekistan – Turkey friendship, strategic partnership and mutually beneficial cooperation.

The trade turnover is growing at a high rate: in 2018 it increased by 40 percent. Large joint projects are being implemented in investment and innovation, energy, agriculture, infrastructure modernization, tourism and other areas with participation of leading Turkish companies.

At present, 655 joint ventures with participation of Turkish investments are operating in Uzbekistan, 270 of which were established last year.

Cultural and humanitarian exchange is expanding, cooperation in tourism is actively developing. Over the past year, the number of tourists from Turkey, who visited Uzbekistan, has doubled.

The Presidents emphasized the importance of full-scale implementation of agreements at the highest level in political, trade-economic, investment, financial, cultural-humanitarian and other fields.

Following the conversation, the mutual readiness to fully contribute to further strengthening strategic partnership and expanding multifaceted cooperation between Uzbekistan and Turkey was confirmed.
