On February 26, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev had a telephone conversation with the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.

Heads of states noted with deep satisfaction the dynamic development and consistent strengthening of strategic partnership and mutually beneficial cooperation between Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan due to strong political will and efforts of the leaders of the two countries.

Mutual visits and negotiations at the highest level filled Uzbekistan – Turkmenistan relations with concrete content.

Holding mutual national exhibitions and business forums in Tashkent and Ashgabat, creation of the Business Council, development of close interagency cooperation contributed to increasing the trade turnover and cooperation in various sectors of the economy.

It was noted that successful conduction of the summit of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea in the city of Avaza and productive chairmanship of Turkmenistan in the Fund gave a new impetus to the joint efforts of the countries of the region and international community for resolving the Aral issue.

Commencement activities of the Multi-Partner Human Security Trust Fund for the Aral Sea Region under the auspices of the UN and the ongoing large-scale activities on planting forests on the dried seabed were highly appreciated.
