ON TELEPHONE CONVERSATION OF THE PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF UZBEKISTAN WITH THE PRESIDENT OF THE RUSSIAN FEDERATION

On October 7, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev had a telephone conversation with the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin.

The Head of our state, at the beginning of the conversation, cordially congratulated the President of the Russian Federation on his birthday, emphasizing the role and great personal contribution of the Russian leader in developing and deepening strategic partnership and alliance, expanding multilateral and mutually beneficial cooperation between our countries.

It was noted with deep satisfaction that a fruitful state visit to Russia in April this year and the high-level meetings strengthened bilateral relations, filling them with concrete practical content.

Noticeable intensification of contacts is being observed: in recent months First Deputy Prime Minister of Russia, co-chairman of the joint Intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation I. Shuvalov, Secretary of the Security Council N. Patrushev, Minister of Agriculture A. Tkachev, Minister of Industry and Trade D. Manturov, the Head of Tatarstan R. Minnikhanov and others visited Uzbekistan. A number of mutual visits at various levels are planned.

The volume of mutual trade is growing dynamically – the trade turnover exceeded 3 billion dollars from the beginning of the year.

Major investment projects are being implemented in the oil and gas, petrochemical, metallurgy, mechanical engineering, electrical industry, pharmaceuticals, agro-industrial complex, food and other industries with participation of the leading Russian companies and banks.

Practical cooperation between the regions and at the level of business community of the two countries has been intensified. Cultural and humanitarian exchange is expanding.

It was noted that the recent visit of Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia to Uzbekistan served to strengthening of friendship and mutual understanding between our people.

During the conversation, issues of further expansion of bilateral practical cooperation were discussed. An exchange of views on relevant aspects of international and regional policy was also held.

In conclusion, the President of Uzbekistan once again warmly congratulated the President of Russia and wished him good health, wellbeing and success, and to the friendly people of Russia – peace and prosperity.

The Head of Russia expressed his sincere gratitude to the President and people of Uzbekistan for cordial congratulations, emphasizing the resolute attitude to further strengthening of bilateral strategic partnership and alliance.
