On telephone conversation of the President of Uzbekistan with the President of Turkmenistan

On October 15, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev had a telephone conversation with the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.

It was noted with deep satisfaction that regular contacts and summits further strengthen centuries-old friendship of the two fraternal people, deepen the good-neighborliness and strategic partnership, expand mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries based on the principles of mutual respect, support and consideration of common interests.

The President of Uzbekistan sincerely congratulated the President of Turkmenistan on receiving an award of the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union for his outstanding contribution to the development of the mass media.

Fruitful results of the summit of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea, successfully held under the chairmanship of the President of Turkmenistan in August this year in Avaza, were highly appreciated. It was emphasized that environmental issues, in particular, overcoming the consequences of the Aral catastrophe, are extremely important for sustainable development of the Central Asian region.

The President of Turkmenistan expressed his gratitude to the President of Uzbekistan for sincere congratulations, emphasizing the consistent strengthening of bilateral relations.

Prospects for cooperation in the field of trade, industrial cooperation, energy, development of efficient transport communications and other spheres were considered.

Importance of expanding interregional contacts and cultural-humanitarian exchanges was emphasized. Successful conduction on October 14 this year of a concert with participation of Turkmen creative teams in Termez was noted.

Views were exchanged on current issues of regional and international agenda.

Following the conversation, the heads of the two states reaffirmed their commitment to further development and strengthening good-neighborly relations, strategic partnership and practical cooperation between the two fraternal countries.
