On December 28, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev had a telephone conversation with the President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sooronbay Jeenbekov.
The Heads of states exchanged warm congratulations and good wishes on the upcoming New Year.
The Presidents discussed the state and prospects of mutually beneficial cooperation, as well as exchanged views on current issues of regional and international politics.
It was emphasized that over the past year, Uzbekistan – Kyrgyzstan relations have reached a qualitatively new level and are filled with specific content.
Interaction in all areas has been intensified. In March and December this year, meetings of the Council of Heads of the Border Regions of Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan, chaired by the Prime Ministers of the two countries, were held in the cities of Fergana and Osh. The first meeting of the Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Commission was held in May.
The trade turnover is growing, joint projects in electrical industry, in production of building materials and others are implemented.
There is an international transport corridor Andijan – Osh – Irkeshtam – Kashgar, joint preparation of the project for construction of a railway line Uzbekistan – Kyrgyzstan – China is under way.
Kyrgyz Culture and Art Days were successfully held in Tashkent and Samarkand. Solemn events are held in the regions of the country within the framework of celebration of the 90th anniversary of Chingiz Aytmatov’s birth.
It was noted with great satisfaction that this fall, the school named after Alisher Navoi, built in Kyrgyzstan’s city of Osh, admitted its first students.
In conclusion, the Heads of states confirmed mutual commitment to further development and strengthening friendship, good-neighborliness and strategic partnership, expansion of multifaceted bilateral cooperation.
