ON TELEPHONE CONVERSATION OF THE PRESIDENT UZBEKISTAN WITH THE PRESIDENT OF THE RUSSIAN FEDERATION

On January 26, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev had a telephone conversation with the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin.

During the conversation, the two leaders with great satisfaction noted the dynamic development and gradual strengthening of relations of strategic partnership and alliance between our countries.

It was emphasized that the highest-level visit on April 4- 5, 2017, to the Russian Federation, as well as regular meetings and contacts between leaders of the two states contributed to intensification of political dialogue and expansion of multifaceted practical cooperation, filling the agenda of bilateral cooperation with qualitatively new, specific content.

Tangible results in trade-economic, investment, financial and transport and communications were achieved by joint efforts.

Currently, major investment projects in the energy sector, the oil and gas complex, metallurgy, mechanical engineering, textile and food industries, pharmaceuticals, building materials industry and other priority areas are being implemented in our country with participation of leading Russian companies and banks.

The bilateral trade turnover last year increased by 20 percent and reached $4.5 billion.

The heads of states highlighted fruitful partnership between the regions of the two countries within the framework of execution of Intergovernmental agreement on facilitation of interregional cooperation.

Tourist and cultural exchanges, important joint programs in education and healthcare are expanding.

The heads of Uzbekistan and Russia discussed current issues of regional and international agenda, reviewed the schedule of upcoming meetings and events at various levels.

In conclusion, the heads of states reaffirmed a strong commitment and readiness to further strengthen mutually beneficial partnership in the interests of the two countries and people, as well as ensure peace, stability and prosperity in the region.
