ON THE THIRTEENTH PLENARY SESSION OF THE SENATE OF THE OLIY MAJLIS OF THE REPUBLIC OF UZBEKISTAN

On December 20, 2017, the thirteenth plenary session of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan began in Tashkent. It was attended by members of the Cabinet of Ministers, heads of ministries and departments, representatives of other organizations, and the mass media.

The meeting was chaired by the Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis N.Yuldoshev.

The senators started their work by considering the issue of the State budget of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the budgets of state trust funds and main directions of the tax and budget policy for 2018.

The State budget for 2018 is based on macroeconomic indicators, price indices recognized by international financial institutions. In 2018, expenditures directed to the social sphere will amount to 34,7 trillion sums. It is proposed to allocate more than 8,5 trillion sums to implementation of the adopted government programs. It is planned to allocate 815 billion sums or almost 3 times more than in 2017 to equipment of preschool education institutions. It is envisaged to allocate 559,1 billion sums or 1,5 times more than in 2017 to development of the material and technical base of 48 higher education institutions. 803,6 billion sums are allocated for the construction, reconstruction, overhaul and equipment of 296 medical institutions.

The senators adopted a relevant resolution on approval of the State budget of the Republic of Uzbekistan for 2018.

The senators considered the Laws of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On introducing amendments and addenda to certain legislative acts of the Republic of Uzbekistan in connection with the adoption of the main directions of the tax and budget policy for 2018”, “On administrative procedures”, “On establishment of the “Kelajak bunyodkori” medal”, the project of which was introduced to the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, “On the Defense doctrine of the Republic of Uzbekistan”, “On establishment of the Day of railway transport workers of the Republic of Uzbekistan”, “On establishment of the Construction workers Day of the Republic of Uzbekistan”, “On introducing amendments and addenda to certain legislative acts of the Republic of Uzbekistan in connection with the improvement of activities of certain state bodies, as well as adoption of additional measures on ensuring protection of citizens’ rights and freedoms”, “On introducing amendments and addenda to some legislative acts of the Republic of Uzbekistan in connection with improvement of tax administration”, and others.

The senators also considered and approved the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On accession of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the Convention on international interests in mobile equipment (Cape Town, November 16, 2001) and to the Protocol to the Convention on international interests in mobile equipment on matters specific to aircraft equipment (Cape Town, November 16, 2001)”.

Other issues related to the competence of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis were also considered at the plenary session. Appropriate resolutions were adopted.
