OUR ARMY - OUR PRIDE

A contest-exhibition entitled “Our army - our pride” has been conducted in the Tashkent house of photographs on the occasion of upcoming 14 January - Motherland Defenders Day.

Nearly 100 works of art were put on display in the exhibition arranged by the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Uzbekistan in cooperation with the Art Academy of Uzbekistan on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the formation of the country’s Armed Forces.

M.Soliyev, deputy minister of defence of the Republic of Uzbekistan; F.Toshmuhamedov, deputy chairman of the Art Academy of Uzbekistan; and others said that the country’s national army capable of reliably protecting the inviolability of the country’s borders and its people’s peace had been formed.

“These kinds of contests are of importance to educating military servicemen in the spirit of love for the Motherland and devotion to the profession chosen by them as well as to further raising the high level of combat readiness and tightening the observance of training and service discipline. Such ideas as further increasing our national army’s might and strengthening the unity of the people and the army are incorporated in every work of art here,” says a military serviceman of the Tashkent military district, Sh.Ismatov.

The purpose of this contest is to explain reforms being implemented in the armed forces system and its achievements to people, especially young people.

Results of reforms being implemented gradually in the defence system in the years of independence are reflected in these works of professional and amateur painters and photographers.

Gifts were given to the contest’s winners and runners-up.
