Parenting Month launched in Uzbekistan

The Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Preschool Education launched the ‘Parenting Month’ Early Childhood Development (ECD) Campaign in Uzbekistan, reports “Dunyo” IA correspondent.

This joint initiative aims to provide parents and caregivers with evidence-based and lifesaving information on ECD, as well as childcare tips. During the month, national leading experts will share best practices and provide advice to give children the best start in their lives.

Materials to be shared through the month include recommendations, photo and video products on health, nutrition, immunization, early learning and stimulation, and safety and security issues.

Partner organizations will be sharing human interest stories, articles and master classes through their social media platforms. As part of the initiative, ECD specialists will answer questions of parents and caregivers on a dedicated TV programme.

“Responsive parenting in early years is critical to shaping the human capital formation of the future of the child and the entire nation. Early interventions related to health, nutrition, safety and security, and early learning are the foundation for child development. The way mothers, fathers, and other caregivers nurture and support children in the first years of life is among the most decisive factors for harmonious development of the child,” said Munir Mammadzade, UNICEF Representative in Uzbekistan. “Early childhood development drives success in school and life,” he added.
