President Gets Familiar with Construction Works in Tashkent

Today, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev got acquainted with the creative efforts undertaken in the city of Tashkent.

First, the head of state visited the construction site of the Tashkent City international business center, where a congress hall and a 21-storey five-star hotel are being erected.

Construction works on this plot of about 80 thousand square meters began last March. At the moment, concrete and frame works have been completed on these two edifices. Installation of metal structures, communications, roofing, cladding of the facade with glass and decorative aluminium panels are in progress.

The President was presented draft designs of the facade and interior spaces of the congress hall.

In general, Tashkent City is conceived as a modern business complex with business centers, hotels, offices, apartment buildings, restaurants and other facilities designed for high-level events, major international forums.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev examined the main ballroom and other premises of the congress hall, inquired about their future design and equipment, and the amenities to be delivered for guests.

Instructions were given on creating comfortable conditions for the movement of distinguished guests and delegations, holding bilateral and multilateral negotiations, their work and leisure, taking into account that many delegations will be accommodated here during international summits.

The head of state noted that the design of the first floor of the congress hall should be in line with modern design trends, and the second floor ought to be planned in a classic style. Shavkat Mirziyoyev proposed to decorate the corridors with masterpieces of Uzbekistan’s artists.

In addition, project designs concerning the hotel being built next to the congress hall were also presented.

The head of state recommended that the hotel rooms be designed and furnished in diverse styles as national, modern, classic, Arabic, English and French. Shavkat Mirziyoyev stressed the need to start the selection of hotel staff today, to teach the personnel to provide high-class service in line with international requirements.

The President also visited the Humo Arena ice palace, where the last finishing works are taking place.

The head of state had approved the draft of this complex on 3 February 2017 and laid the first stone in its foundation. Over the past short span of time, a multifunctional sports complex has emerged here, itself an innovation for our national urban planning.

The complex on 9 hectares of land was erected at the intersection of Afrosiyob and Beshagach streets. It combines modern engineering technologies. Humo Arena has a multifunctional ice arena (12,500 seats), a small training arena (200 seats), gyms, a sports museum and many other facilities. The main and training arenas 60x30 meters each allow for holding competitions at the international standards.

Thanks to the mobile seats in the complex, it will be possible to organize other events. In particular, in addition to international tournaments in hockey, curling, figure skating, short track, the arena will be able to host competitions in basketball, volleyball, handball, futsal, boxing, taekwondo, fencing and other sports. Everything will be conducive for the arrangement of celebrations, concerts, exhibitions and forums.

The new sports complex will afford a powerful impetus to the development of sports, the popularization of its winter types in our country, and the training of athletes to a new, international level.

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev gave instructions on the effective operation of the complex, ensuring the safety of people during public events, and improving the territory adjacent to the palace.
