Yesterday, on September 8, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received the head of the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) Gianni Infantino, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
According to the press service of the Head of our state, in the beginning of the conversation, FIFA President once again sincerely congratulated the leader and the people of Uzbekistan with the historic event – national football team reaching the 2026 World Cup finals in the United States. It was underlined that this well-deserved achievement is a result of ongoing reforms and strong support for sports in our country.
Issues of expanding practical partnership with this authoritative international structure, primarily in transforming football management, developing young talent, training coaches, referees, managers, medical staff and technical specialists to international standards, were discussed.
The continuing close cooperation on the implementation of joint programs for popularizing football among youth was noted with big satisfaction.
With FIFA’s technical assistance, a modern National football center, including a digital football situation center with innovative solutions, has been established.
Our country also successfully hosted the Futsal World Cup last year.
Special attention was paid to organizing major FIFA tournaments and events in Uzbekistan.
An agreement was reached on the opening a regional FIFA office for Central Asian countries in the city of Tashkent.
At the end of the meeting, the President of Uzbekistan awarded the head of FIFA Gianni Infantino the high state honor – the "Dustlik" order, for his personal contribution to the development and promotion of Uzbek football on an international arena.
