PRESIDENT OF UZBEKISTAN RECEIVED THE FIRST DEPUTY PRIME MINISTER OF THE RUSSIAN FEDERATION

On August 23, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received the First Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Igor Shuvalov, who is in our country on a working visit.

The head of our state warmly welcomed the guest and sincerely congratulated I.Shuvalov on the appointment as a chairman of the Russian part of the joint Intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation.

The important role of this commission was particularly noted in ensuring full-scale implementation of the agreements reached during the state visit of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the Russian Federation on April 4-5, 2017, as well as the effective promotion of new programs and projects of mutually beneficial cooperation in various sectors of the economy.

It was emphasized that dynamic development of bilateral relations is being observed.

The volume of mutual trade is steadily growing: in the first seven months of this year, the trade turnover has increased by 14 percent and exceeded 2,6 billion US dollars. At the same time, growth is observed in all major export and import positions. Since July, the “green corridor” for the supply of Uzbek fruit and vegetable products to the Russian market has begun its full-fledged activity.

Joint work is being conducted on implementation of priority investment projects with involvement of the leading Russian companies and banks.

Among them, there are major projects in the oil and gas complex on conducting geological exploration and development of promising fields with increasing hydrocarbon production, construction of Kandym gas processing and Djizzak refineries, modernization of the industry, as well as in the sphere of supplying gas and oil.

Implementation of projects on development of Yoshlik-1 field with the construction of a copper-concentrating complex and a metallurgical plant in Tashkent has begun in the sphere of metallurgy.

Cooperation in machine-building, automotive, electrical, chemical, pharmaceutical, textile, food industries, tourism and many other areas is expanding, including at the level of the regions of the two countries with active involvement of small businesses.

In general, today there are about 1 thousand enterprises with participation of Russian capital in Uzbekistan. Representative offices of 60 Russian companies are accredited in our country.

Humanitarian relations continue to develop, joint projects are being implemented in the spheres of healthcare, education, sports, culture and art.

During the meeting, issues of further development of practical cooperation between the two countries, as well as accelerating implementation of investment projects and preparing new promising programs in high-tech industries were considered in detail.

The guest expressed sincere gratitude to the head of our state Shavkat Mirziyoyev for the warm welcome and conveyed the greetings and best wishes of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin and the Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev.

The First Deputy Prime Minister confirmed the readiness of the Russian Federation to develop and strengthen full-scale cooperation with the Republic of Uzbekistan in the spirit of strategic partnership and alliance.
