President of Uzbekistan receives the Chairperson of Kazakhstan Senate

On June 4, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received the Chairperson of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan Maulen Ashimbayev.

The President noted with satisfaction the current high level of bilateral friendship, good-neighborliness and strategic partnership, achieved through regular and effective contacts at the highest level.

The Chairperson of the Senate Maulen Ashimbayev expressed sincere gratitude to the President of Uzbekistan for the warm welcome and conveyed greetings and best wishes from the President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.

Issues of further development and deepening of multifaceted cooperation between the two countries were discussed at the meeting.
It was emphasized that active exchanges continue at the level of governments, regions and businesses to jointly overcome the consequences of the pandemic. Since the beginning of this year, the trade turnover has grown by 40 percent. Major cooperation projects are being prepared and implemented in the mechanical engineering, textile industry, transport, tourism and other sectors of the economy. Programs in the cultural and humanitarian sphere have been resumed.

The importance of the active participation of Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan parliaments in developing the long-term agenda of cooperation, promoting new initiatives and specific projects with the broad involvement of regional administrations and businesspeople, as well as strengthening cooperation and coordination on the current regional and international issues was emphasized.
