On September 24, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received the Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of the Republic of Turkey Binali Yildirim, who arrived in Uzbekistan on an official visit.

Sincerely welcoming the guest, the Head of the state emphasized that thanks to the political will and joint efforts, the traditionally close and friendly Uzbekistan – Turkey relations have reached the level of strategic partnership.

It was noted that fruitful high-level negotiations held during the last year’s state visit to Turkey and in spring this year to Uzbekistan, important documents signed on the basis of their results served to lay a solid foundation for enhancing practical cooperation in various fields.

Political dialogue is actively developing. Joint investment programs and projects are being implemented with leading Turkish companies and banks in trade, innovation, energy, infrastructure, transport, tourism, textile and food industries, and other spheres.

Creation of over 230 joint Uzbekistan – Turkey enterprises since the beginning of this year is the evidence of the growing interest of Turkish business to working in Uzbekistan market. The trade turnover for this period grew by more than 40 percent.

Cultural-humanitarian exchanges are expanding, including in the areas of health and education, as well as tourism.

Interparliamentary relations play an important role in consistent development and strengthening bilateral relations. Intensive exchange of legislative bodies’ delegations of the two countries is observed.

Parliamentary friendship groups are successfully operating in the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Grand National Assembly of the Republic of Turkey. The Memorandum and Roadmap for development of cooperation have been adopted.

At the meeting, importance of practical implementation of reached arrangements and adopted agreements on the results of summits, as well as active support by parliamentarians for issues of promoting joint programs and cooperation projects was noted.

Binali Yildirim expressed his deep gratitude to the President of Uzbekistan for the warm welcome and conveyed sincere greetings and best wishes on behalf of the President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

He highly appreciated the large-scale reforms being carried out in Uzbekistan, emphasizing that the Turkish side is ready to render all possible assistance in implementing promising projects aimed at modernizing the country’s economy and social sphere.

During the constructive dialogue, the commitment of the parties to further strengthening traditional friendship and long-term strategic partnership was confirmed.
