PRESIDENT SHAVKAT MIRZIYOYEV HAS VOTED IN THE ELECTIONS

December 24 is the day of elections to the district Kengashes of people’s deputies of the city of Tashkent. The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev participated in the voting at the 162nd polling station of Mirzo-Ulugbek district.

The Law “On elections to the district Kengashes of people’s deputies of the city of Tashkent”, adopted on August 29, 2017, created organizational and legal conditions for the establishment of Kengashes of people’s deputies in the districts of the capital.

Organization of Kengashes of people’s deputies in the districts of Tashkent will allow to consider and adopt local budgets at the district level, territorial development programs, monitor their implementation, hear reports and information of the heads of local state bodies at sessions of Kengashes, resolve issues related to the rights and legitimate interests of citizens, within their authority.

All this serves as an important factor of further development of the capital’s districts, will contribute to increasing participation and strengthening the public role in socio-economic, socio-political reforms held in Tashkent, establishment of deputy control over local executive bodies by people’s representatives.

Thorough preparation was conducted for the elections. In accordance with the electoral legislation of our country, all political parties and civil society institutions participating in the electoral process have nominated one candidate to 330 electoral districts, established in 11 districts of Tashkent.

One of the most important innovations of the current elections is the use, within the framework of a legal experiment, of the information system of the Single electronic voter list in accordance with the resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of August 15, 2017.
