The President of Uzbekistan sincerely congratulated the President of South Korea on successful holding the Inter-Korean summit on April 27, 2018 in Panmunjom, which became a truly historic event in the annals of Korean people.
In the message it is noted that breakthrough results of this meeting, which was in the center of attention of the entire world community, became possible due to the resolute position and tireless efforts of President Moon Jae-in on implementation of peaceful course aimed at improving relations between the Republic of Korea and the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, ensuring global security and stability, as well as strengthening confidence in the region.
The warm and friendly atmosphere of the negotiations and the Panmunjom Declaration for Peace, Prosperity and Unification of the Korean Peninsula, adopted following the results, and which has fixed the major arrangements on rapprochement of the two states, development of political, trade-economic and cultural-humanitarian contacts give hope and confidence to the beginning of a new era of partnership between the Republic of Korea and DPRK.
Uzbekistan, as the initiator of creation of a nuclear-weapon-free zone in Central Asia, fully supports the process of denuclearization on the Korean peninsula, which will undoubtedly serve to further develop Inter-Korean relations and promote integration in the region.
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev also especially noted the President Moon Jae-in’s initiative to restore rail and road traffic. This will open new prospects for expanding the cooperation of the Korean peninsula with the countries of the vast Eurasian region, including Central Asia, its transformation into a continent with a single logistics system, intensive trade and economic ties.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev emphasized that the Republic of Uzbekistan, being a strategic partner of the Republic of Korea, will continue to firmly support active practical steps of Korean people on the way to rapprochement, ensuring stability and security on the Korean peninsula in the name of common prosperity and progress.
The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan wished the President of the Republic of Korea a good health and great success in implementation of arrangements of the Inter-Korean summit, which, certainly, will have a historical impact on development of the situation in the region and the world.
