Presidents of Uzbekistan received delegation headed by the governor of the city of Saint Petersburg

Today, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received the Russian delegation headed by the governor of the city of Saint Petersburg Alexander Beglov, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

According to the press service of the Head of our state, issues of further expansion of the mutually beneficial Uzbek-Russian cooperation, primarily implementation of economic cooperation projects and programs of cultural and humanitarian exchange with the city of Saint Petersburg, were reviewed.

The growth in mutual trade turnover was noted with satisfaction – at the end of last year, the volume of export and import operations at the regional level increased by 20 percent. Work is underway to launch the Business center in our capital, as well as to prepare a project for the construction of the "Petersburg quarter" in the territory of New Tashkent.

During the current visit of the Russian delegation, a roadmap was adopted for the implementation of 23 cooperation projects in areas such as metallurgy, instrument making, road construction, pharmaceuticals and healthcare, the food industry, agriculture, logistics and other areas.

Specific proposals were supported to expand practical cooperation in the areas of private healthcare, education, public utilities, digital technologies, migration and tourism.

Important attention was paid to continuing active humanitarian contacts and regularly organizing joint cultural events.

An agreement was reached on taking measures to ensure the effective conduct of the second meeting of the Council of Regions of the two countries in October this year.
