“All parties that are trying to achieve peace deserve our respect. Let me express my gratitude to Russia, the USA, the EU, Uzbekistan and China for their efforts. Thank you for your support in achieving peace. We are grateful for this,” the Prime Minister of Afghanistan Abdullah Abdullah said at the SCO Council of Government Heads meeting in Tashkent.

He also noted the importance of successful regional cooperation as a tool for the implementation of socio-economic development, “which will help to achieve prosperity, ensure stability and long-term peace.”

“We are firmly committed to the peace process and strive to adopt an effective counter-terrorism strategy. From this point of view, continued cooperation at the regional level is necessary to combat this phenomenon. We believe that the SCO could take the necessary measures to develop a regional strategy to combat terrorism,” Abdullah added.

According to the Prime Minister of Afghanistan, the elections held in the country became an important stage in the fight against terrorism. He called on all sides of the political process within the country to strive to strengthen the unity of the people.
