Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Malaysia Ravshan Usmanov has met with the head of Department for South and Central Asia of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia Mohammad Azhar bin Mazlan via videoconference, Uzbekistan MFA reports.

Mohammad Azhar bin Mazlan expressed gratitude on behalf of the Government of Malaysia to the leadership of Uzbekistan for the assistance in organizing a charter flight to return 212 Malaysians to their homeland on March 21, 2020.

The current state and prospects for further development of Uzbekistan – Malaysia cooperation in a pandemic were discussed during the conversation.

Special attention was paid to issues of enhancing inter-parliamentary cooperation. In particular, it was noted that Friendship Group with Uzbekistan established in February this year in the Malaysian legislature opens up new prospects for further development of cooperation between the parliaments of the two countries.

The parties agreed to organize videoconferences between the leadership of respective ministries and agencies of Uzbekistan and Malaysia for discussing practical steps to implement the significant potential for expanding cooperation in political, trade-economic, investment, cultural-humanitarian and other spheres.
