Prospects for Uzbekistan–Egypt Cooperation in Agriculture Discussed in Cairo

Uzbekistan’s Ambassador Mansurbek Kilichev met with the Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation of Egypt Alaa Farouk, and his deputies Adil Abduazim and Saad Musa, “Dunyo” IA’s correspondent reports.

The meeting aimed to discuss ways to further expand bilateral cooperation in the agricultural sector and to ensure the effective organization of an upcoming Uzbek delegation visit to Egypt.

The parties highlighted the fruitful cooperation between the two countries in agriculture, particularly the application of Egyptian expertise in cultivating “super-super-elite” potato seeds in Uzbekistan’s Kashkadarya region.

The Egyptian side expressed support for the implementation of a sugar beet cultivation and sugar production project in Jizzakh region, as well as willingness to cooperate in cultivating strawberries, peanuts, and other crops for export purposes.

It was also proposed to explore opportunities for practical study visits to Egypt, allowing Uzbek specialists to gain firsthand experience in agricultural development and enhance their professional skills.

The discussion further covered the prospects for increasing mutual delegations, exchanging expertise and information, developing joint projects, promoting agricultural exports, reclaiming desert areas in Uzbekistan with the involvement of Egyptian specialists, and implementing a modern, efficient irrigation system (center pivot) using groundwater resources.
