The Indian information-analytical portal Sarkaritel published article on social partnership between government bodies and civil society institutions in protecting population’s rights and interests.
The portal noted that Uzbekistan has chosen its own path of reform and modernization since the early days of independence. “The formation of a strong and open civil society is a priority direction of large-scale democratic transformations that ensures the protection of rights, interests and freedoms of individuals”.
It reported that the country worked out and implemented the principle “From a strong state to a strong civil society” aimed at expanding rights and powers of civilian institutions in protecting the rights, freedoms and legitimate interests of people, ensuring broad participation of citizens in management and organization of their and society’s life.
The author emphasized that Uzbekistan has established a reliable legal basis for the formation of civil society, national infrastructure, ensuring the real independence of civil society institutions, material and financial support for their activities.
“The adoption of the Law "On openness of activities of state authorities and management” has been an important step toward the strengthening of civil institutions’ position, which provides a wide access of the population, non-governmental organizations to information about taken decisions of public authorities that affect citizens’ rights, freedoms and legitimate interests”, wrote the edition.
In conclusion, Sarkaritel quoted from honorary member of the Belgian Senate, Dominique Tilmans, “Uzbekistan has fulfilled large-scale endeavors aimed at the development of independent and sustainable civil society institutions’ system in a short period of time, largely supported by people as an important component of democratic legal state’s formation. Studying foreign experience of social relations’ legal regulation, the practice of civil society’s formation, Uzbekistan does not copy the models, but adapts democratic principles through values of the Uzbek society”.
