17 September 2016 saw the VI Plenum of the Political Council of the Social-democratic party of Uzbekistan "Adolat". It was attended by members of the Political Council, the Central auditing Commission of the party’s faction at the Legislative chamber of the Oliy Majlis, deputies of local councils, party activists and representatives of mass media.
The meeting discussed the issue of the participation of the SDPU "Adolat" in the elections of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, which will be held on December 4 this year. The need for continuous participation of the SDPU "Adolat" in this important process in the life of the country was particularly stressed.
Members of the Political Council of the party addressing to the participants said that the presidential elections are an important indicator of a democratic state and free civil society, the main form of the free will of the people, their participation in the management of the affairs of the state and society.
In turn, it was emphasized that programme goals and objectives of the SDPU "Adolat" embody the interests of the population and participation in the upcoming elections once again provides an opportunity for broad propaganda among voters party ideas, deeper reflection of the interests of the electorate through election programs.
Plenary participants also discussed the issue of the candidacy of the party in the upcoming elections.
On this issue, the participants of the meeting, based on the will of the electorate and party supporters, supported the Chairman of the Political Council, head of the faction in the Legislative chamber of the Oliy Majlis Nariman Umarov as a candidate for President.
It was stressed that the Presidential candidate put forward by SDPU "Adolat" has the necessary life experience, is well respected among members of the same party and is a worthy candidate for participation in the upcoming elections.
Given that all questions connected with the participation of the party in the upcoming election are decided by the Supreme body – the Kurultai, the participants adopted the decision to convene the next VIII Kurultai of the SDPU "Adolat" on October 15, 2016, in the city of Tashkent.
