In the capital’s exhibition center Brussel Expo of Kingdom of Belgium, an international seafood exhibition Seafood Expo Global & Seafood Processing Global 2015 was held.
This fair was organized by Diversified Business Communications, has a leading position in the field of exhibition halls and conference centers, as well as for international trade fairs.
According to organizers, the exhibition was attended by over 650 companies fr om 70 countries, representing all categories of seafood: fresh, canned, frozen, and the technology of reproduction, storage of fish and seafood, processing and handling equipment; a variety of services in the production and sale of fish and seafood, including handling, insurance and information technology.
For the most convenient and efficient organization of the fair, the exhibition was divided into the so-called country pavilions, which was attended by the company’s country of origin - Norway, Spain, Canada, Morocco, Greece, China, the US, Belgium, Denmark and others.
Uzbekistan in this event was attended by his national pavilions. In order to acquaint exhibitors with opportunities of cooperation with Uzbekistan, a republic in attracting advanced technologies and foreign capital to establish the cultivation of fish and seafood is also a presentation of agriculture in our country.
The participants were briefed on the results of socio-economic development of Uzbekistan in the 2014 and priorities for the current year, government measures for economic diversification, creation of favorable conditions for foreign investors, as well as changes in legislation aimed at encouraging foreign investment.
Representatives of international and European companies have shown great interest in the level of development of agrarian sector of Uzbekistan.
In particular, the business development manager of the Association of Flemish fishing industry (VLV) J.Bussert during the conversation with the correspondent of IA "Jahon" praised the measures taken in the country for the development of the agricultural sector and the existing opportunities for the investment activity of foreign companies.
— The participation of the Uzbek delegation allowed me to learn more about your country, its potential in the agricultural sector. Providing us with information about the rate of development of agriculture of Uzbekistan demonstrates the achievements of the republic. In particular, it is gratifying to note that the first half of 2014 output growth in this sector amounted to 6,8% of the republic, - said the representative of the Association of Flemish fishing industry. - Fish farming is widespread in Belgium and in the province of West Flanders operates the European Centre for Fish. It consists of two clusters wh ere companies involved in fishing and seafood, seafood fish auction is conducted. The annual trade volume amounts to 17 million kg.
J.Bussert informed about the readiness of his organization to discuss the establishment of cooperation with relevant agencies, organizations and institutions of higher education in Uzbekistan.

— It is gratifying to see that the consistent development of fish farming in Uzbekistan creates opportunities to provide the population with quality fish products, creation of new jobs, improvement of this sector and the rational use of natural resources. It’s nice to know that in the aquaculture industry in your country has more than 2,5 thousand enterprises and farms. More than two thousand farms engaged in fish farming in artificial reservoirs, the remaining natural.
Fish farming - one of the high-yield sectors, it can be called a true treasure trove. To do this in your country, and enough water basins and to develop science-based projects. Breeding of cultivated species of fish in Uzbekistan will certainly contribute to better meeting of the needs of people in the fishery products.
In turn, commercial director of the Greek company Nireus Aquaculture SA A.Grammenos said that his company has the necessary knowledge and 25 years of experience in the field of aqua and mariculture.
— Our company is a world leader in the field of Mediterranean mariculture and is engaged in the trade of fish cultivation in Greece, Spain and Turkey. Currently, products are available in 40 countries around the world fresh and fresh-frozen, whole and processed. Taking into account that the country is actively developing aqua and mariculture sector, there is a mutual interest in establishing cooperation with Uzbek farmers and companies on the organization of breeding or cultivation of marine aquatic hydrocoles (algae, molluscs, crustaceans and fish) in vitro, - he said.
Overall, there was an exhibition allowed to get even better acquainted with the best practices and technologies in the agricultural sector. The representatives of foreign companies expressed their willingness to establish cooperation with Uzbek businessmen, interested in attracting advanced technologies in the republic to establish the cultivation of fish and seafood.
