At the meeting on environmental protection issues, it was noted that one of the main problems is organization of activities of waste landfills in accordance with sanitary and environmental requirements.
Currently, 1.2 billion dollars are needed to organize activities of 221 landfills at the required level.
– That’s a lot of money. To attract funds to the sphere, it is necessary to introduce the widely used principle in the world: “Polluter pays”, – the Head of the state said. – At the same time, it is necessary to provide for the cost of production of large producers of goods for the disposal of waste generated from its production. These costs should not be a burden on people’s shoulders. Funds should be accumulated in the Fund of ecology, environmental protection and waste management and sent to bring landfills in compliance with sanitary requirements, optimization of their quantity.
Responsible persons were instructed to introduce this new mechanism within a month.
