Shavkat Mirziyoyev: The strength of our country is in the unity of the people

Festive celebrations were held in the New Uzbekistan Park to mark the 33rd anniversary of the country’s independence.
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev delivered a speech at the ceremony and congratulated people on this great holiday.

“In these exciting moments, we are still more deeply aware of our priceless asset’s enormous historical significance – national independence. It was thanks to independence that our national statehood was revived. Uzbekistan has entered a new historical era. Thanks to independence, we have taken a worthy place in the world community. And we have the right to be proud of this”, the Head of state said.

It was noted that the incredible power of independence is manifested in every deed and achievement. Uzbekistan is opening up to the world, and the world is opening up to it.

According to the International Monetary Fund, the country’s gross domestic product exceeded $100 billion for the first time in 2023. The World Bank predicts a 5.3 percent growth in the country’s gross domestic product this year.

All reforms are deeply imbued with the noble idea of “In the name of human interests and dignity, in the name of the happiness of the people!” Economic success has made it possible to increase pensions and benefits from September this year and wages for employees of budgetary organizations, medical workers, and teachers starting October.

Systematic work yields results in all areas. Young people make a worthy contribution to the country’s development. This was also evident in sports: Uzbekistan’s athletes achieved impressive success at the Summer Olympic Games in Paris. These days, joyful news comes from the Paralympic Games, one after another.

The President of Uzbekistan once again congratulated the athletes and expressed confidence that they will reach even higher levels.

The importance of peace in these difficult and troubled times was emphasized.

“No matter how difficult life may be, we will consistently continue democratic reforms, mobilizing all our forces and capabilities for the benefit of the people to strengthen peace and stability in the country. However, maintaining peace should not remain only the business of military personnel. This is a sacred duty for all of us, for every citizen of Uzbekistan. Our main value is peace and stability. The strength of our country is in the unity of the people”, Shavkat Mirziyoyev emphasized.

The work on developing the social sphere and establishing a quality education system was noted. It was emphasized that the future of the country and the implementation of all noble aspirations depends on the knowledge and potential of young people.

Equal rights will be ensured for everyone in the economy, and the country will become an integral part of international trade. We will rely on entrepreneurs to provide the population with decent jobs.

Uzbekistan is currently among the 40 largest countries in the world in terms of population. With our reforms, labor, knowledge, and talent, we must turn this figure into a powerful potential.

“Considering the limited opportunities to access the sea, we must pay more attention to creative areas and consistently develop them. Many countries annually receive multi-billion-dollar revenues from the export of creative industrial products. Therefore, we will comprehensively stimulate entrepreneurs and inventors, especially young ones, who have organized the production of such products”, the President said.

Development does not happen by itself. It is achieved through diligence, activity, and unity. In conclusion of his speech, Shavkat Mirziyoyev called on society to live by these ideals.

“Our fast-paced time requires us to set ever higher goals. Today, our main task is to ensure that the independent state and free society that we created with our efforts and potential are even more beautiful and comfortable. This is a high milestone worthy of tireless work. This is a bright, glorious goal worth dedicating your life to”, the Head of state said.

Then, a festive concert program took place. The songs vividly reflected our people’s rich art and values, and folk groups’ performances demonstrated interethnic harmony. The concert was broadcast live on television and the Internet, giving our compatriots a festive mood.
