The President of Uzbekistan got acquainted with work to be carried out in Jizzakh region in accordance with the State Program of Irrigation and Reclamation activities in 2018-2019.
This year, construction of a canal and a reservoir began in Farish district, which will provide water to 20 thousand hectares of land. The Head of the state was informed about projects of these hydraulic structures.
Currently, about 10 kilometers of canal have been built and its banks have been concreted with the use of modern technologies. The remaining 8 kilometers are scheduled to be completed in the first half of this year. As a result, the water will be supplied to undeveloped lands of Farish district in autumn 2019, where orchards, vineyards, walnut groves, sugar beet plantations and other export-oriented crops will be created.
– The effectiveness of reforms in agriculture depends on rational use of water, preventing its waste, – said Shavkat Mirziyoyev. – There will be no yield without changing attitude to water. High-quality irrigation and reclamation activities will increase yield in the region by 2-3 centners per year.
The Head of the state noted that 50 kilometers of irrigation trays should be built in the region this year and 57 kilometers should be repaired. Responsible persons were given appropriate instructions on allocating necessary funds.
Presentation of investment projects on construction and modernization by JSC “Uzbekgidroenergo” of micro hydroelectric power stations in Zaamin and Zafarabad districts of the region was held. As a result of these projects, the annual volume of electricity generation by small hydroelectric power stations of the region will reach 17-18 million kilowatt-hours.
