The portal of the Baltic News Service (BNS) posted an article about Oxus Uzbekistan musical group’s "master classes" and concerts held in cities of Vilaka and Riga (Latvia).
The article notes that the band performs a concert tour in Latvia, Estonia and Finland under the name "Shoshmakom - music of the Silk Road" on the occasion of 575th anniversary of the outstanding poet Alisher Navoi and 533rd anniversary of the great thinker and statesman Zakhiriddin Muhammad Babur.
As BNS informs, Oxus band performed in "Kalnciema Kvartāls" (Quarter of Kalnciema) of Riga, in the event "Folklore Footbridge" in Vilaka, and also met with Latvian ethnomusicologist in the Latvian Music Academy.
"The meeting was informed about the life and legacy of the great thinker Alisher Navoi, his outstanding role in the development of Uzbek literature and literary language. The program also includes performances by Uzbek musicians’ pieces of art written on such ghazals (poems) by Navoi, as "Tanovar", "Munojot", "Ey do’st" and others", BNS writes.
In addition, the source informs that at the event a video, which is dedicated to life and creativity of Alisher Navoi and Bobur, was demonstrated.
As outlined in article in statement of Oxus group sounded like authentic songs regions of the country and instrumental folk music is a broad spectrum. After the concert, the band members answered questions about musical instruments and Uzbek music.
"Quartet’s professional musicians offer a broad program of cultural heritage of Uzbekistan. They regularly participate in various festivals and concerts, collaborating on projects with artists all over the world, the article says. Prior to February 22 this year, the group will perform a number of concerts in Estonia and Finland. The purpose of the tour is to familiarize students with the Uzbek folk music", the BNS concludes.
