SILK HEADS FOR ABROAD

The Uzbek-Chinese joint venture Bukhoro Brilliant Silk has commissioned a new silk production line. More than $2 million was invested in the project.

Having purchased modern weaving machines and other automated equipment, the company intends to significantly increase production volumes and expand export supplies in the near future.

Currently, Bukhoro Brilliant Silk supplies the bulk of its products to the domestic market, to the customers in Ferghana, Samarkand and Khorezm regions and Tashkent. However, silk fabrics of the joint venture are marketable abroad. Last year, the company exported products to Iran, Vietnam, Turkey and India for $2 million. Since the beginning of the current year, shipments to foreign markets have exceeded 1.8 million. There are plans to bring the index to $2.5 million by end of the year.
