Silk Road Destinations won the award in To Do 2014

Travel agency Silk Road Destinations won an international competition in the field of tourism International Contest Socially Responsible Tourism Award (To Do 2014, competition for solidarity tourism), according to the National Company "Uzbektourism".

The award ceremony took place in Berlin (Germany) at the exhibition ITB-2015. It should be noted that the company Silk Road Destinations became the first company from Uzbekistan which has won this prestigious award.

By the end of 2014 two more projects from India and Costa Rica have received this award. Despite such a distance from each other, the country’s winners have one thing in common: involve local people in the tourism sector, creating an additional source of income, keeping local traditions and culture.

The team of the Silk Road Destinations created project on solidarity tourism in the village Mitan, where guests (tourists) are in direct contact with the local people, learning their culture and customs.

The aim of the project is to create an additional source of income for the local population and intercultural exchange, which helps facilitate communication between people from different social and religious outlook.

This project is unique within the Central Asian region and enables local youth to practice tourist activities, thereby creating jobs in the tourism sector of the village.
