Silk Road Int. has established transportation along China – Kyrgyzstan – Uzbekistan – Afghanistan transport corridor

As previously reported, in February 2018, Uzbekistan – China JV Silk Road International was established with participation of Urta Osiyo Trans Joint Stock Company, the main activity of which is organization of cargo transportation along the new transport corridor Tashkent – Andijan – Osh – Irkeshtam – Kashgar (China) and back.

To date, Silk Road International JV LLC regularly carries out transportation of legumes, cotton yarn, juices and nectars from Uzbekistan to China. In the opposite direction, construction materials, seedlings, car spare parts and consumer goods are imported.

As reported by the Press Service of the Ministry for Foreign Trade, in July-August of this year, the joint venture successfully carried out two pilot cargo transportation of goods by road from China to Afghanistan via the Uzbekistan – Kyrgyzstan – China transport corridor. The transportation was carried out from the Chinese county Ulugchat, located 100 km. from the city of Kashgar, along the route Ulugchat – Irkeshtam – Osh – Andijan – Tashkent – Hairatan (Afghanistan) with a total length of 1,626 km.

It should be noted that recently the JV LLC Silk Road International was the first of Uzbekistan international road carriers to start the transportation of cargo along the corridor Uzbekistan – Kyrgyzstan – China according to the system of the “Customs Convention on the International Transport of Goods under Cover of TIR Carnets (TIR Convention)”. It is assumed that due to the use of TIR-carnet, when transporting foreign trade goods between the PRC and Afghanistan, the delivery period along the indicated route may take 5-7 days.
