The 150th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union begins its work in Tashkent

The forum, taking place from April 5 to 9, brings together representatives of the parliaments of nearly 190 IPU member states, as well as around 2,000 delegates from international and inter-parliamentary organizations.

It is essential to highlight that such a prominent and significant event dedicated to parliamentary affairs is being held for the first time in the history of Central Asia. Hosting it in Uzbekistan, at the initiative of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, underscores the country’s growing recognition as a key emerging center of global political dialogue.

The forum, themed “Parliamentary Action for Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions”, will focus on issues such as poverty reduction, the creation of decent working conditions, support for social inclusion, and expanding the participation of marginalized groups in decision-making processes.

Following the event, a document is expected to be adopted that will define the medium- and long-term priority areas for the global parliamentary movement.

Additionally, the resolutions of the Inter-Parliamentary Union and the Tashkent Declaration will be officially approved.
