On November 22-23, Samarkand hosted the Asian Forum on Human Rights.

The session organized on the second day was devoted to cooperation of national human rights institutions with state bodies and civil society institutions in ensuring respect, protection of human rights and their observance. Reports of the Chief Commissioner of the National Human Rights Commission of Mongolia Jamsran Byambadorj, the Ombudsman of Kyrgyzstan Tokon Mamytov, Chairperson of the National Commission on Human Rights of Indonesia Ahmad Damanik and others were heard.

Based on the results of the two-day discussions, the forum participants adopted the Samarkand Declaration of Human Rights.
