On June 25, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting devoted to the analysis of the ongoing work on socio-economic development of the country, as well as the results and qualitative changes expected in the first half of the year.
At the meeting it was noted that high economic growth rates are ensured as a result of active investment policy, attracting primarily foreign direct investment in economic sectors and regions, as well as introduction and consistent implementation of new effective mechanisms for the full assistance to entrepreneurs and investors.
Thus, it is expected that in the first half of this year, the volume of gross domestic product will grow by 5.4 percent, industrial production by 7 percent, construction and contract work by 9.6 percent, and the volume of services rendered by 13.9 percent. It was emphasized that in achieving such results an important factor is primarily the almost one and a half increase in the volume of utilized investments.
At the same time, it was noted that there are still not fully involved reserves and opportunities in all sectors and regions. Relevant leaders have been given specific tasks on creating modern enterprises and new jobs, increasing production and export of products. Instructions were given on expanding the revenue base of local budgets, directing additional revenues to development of social and communal spheres, improvement of villages and makhallas, improvement of life of the population as a whole.
In particular, instruction was given on taking additional measures for accelerating implementation of programs and specific investment projects developed within the framework of the Head of the state’s visits to the regions, as well as developing new projects.
At the meeting, the state of ongoing large-scale activity on improving the architectural appearance of cities and districts, improvement of settlements, construction and repair of housing, water networks, electricity, local and internal roads within the framework of “Obod qishloq” (Prosperous village) and “Obod makhalla” (Prosperous neighborhood) programs was also reviewed. The need was noted for timely allocation and development of necessary financial and other resources, qualitative implementation of the planned work.
Reports of heads of the Cabinet of Ministers, ministries and agencies, business associations and regions were heard. Measures have been identified for increasing the personal responsibility of relevant managers for unconditional achievement of forecast indicators and specific development objectives of each industry and region.
