The fifteenth plenary session of the Senate was held in Tashkent

On June 28-29, 2018, the fifteenth plenary session of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan was held in Tashkent.

The session was chaired by the Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis N.Yuldoshev.

The senators considered the laws of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On counteraction to extremism”, “On mediation”, “On restriction of smoking hookahs and e-cigarettes in public places”, “On the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Uzbekistan” in the new edition, “On plant quarantine” in the new edition, “On introducing amendments and addenda to certain legislative acts of the Republic of Uzbekistan” aimed at further improving activities of the state governing bodies and administration, criminal and criminal procedure legislation, legislation on administrative liability, as well as development of the country’s economy. The laws have been approved by senators.

The senators also considered a number of laws on ratification of international treaties of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The laws have been approved by senators.

The senators heard the report of the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Uzbekistan on activities of the Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Uzbekistan, as well as on activities of the Accounts Chamber of the Republic of Uzbekistan in 2017.

The senators heard the information of the Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan on activities of law enforcement agencies in the field of combating and preventing crime, ensuring public security in the first half of 2018, as well as information of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan on activities of the Ministry in implementing the assigned tasks.

Then the senators discussed the issue of streamlining weddings, family celebrations, a funeral feast and ceremonies for the deceased, and events dedicated to the memory of the deceased. It was noted that it is possible to achieve compact holding of wedding and other family events not through the adoption of a certain normative act, but through extensive propaganda work, a personal example, exemplary events.

Further, the senators considered the issues on appointment of the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the French Republic, the chairman of the Supreme Judicial Council of the Republic of Uzbekistan, on introducing amendments to the composition of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Uzbekistan. Relevant resolutions have been adopted on the considered issues.

Other issues related to the powers of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis were also considered at the plenary session, on which relevant resolutions have been adopted.

During the fifteenth plenary session 23 issues related to the powers of the Senate, including 10 laws aimed at radically improving the efficiency of the ongoing reforms in the country, development of international cooperation were considered.
