THE FOUNDER OF INDEPENDENT UZBEKISTAN

In accordance with the resolution of the President Shavkat Mirziyoyev “On celebration of the 80th anniversary of the First President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, outstanding state and political figure Islam Abduganiyevich Karimov’s birth” of November 27, 2017, the Central Council of the People’s Democratic Party of Uzbekistan jointly with the faction of the party in the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis organized a spiritual enlightenment conference “Islam Karimov – the architect of independence”.

Within the framework of the event, participants laid flowers at the monument to the First President at Scientific Enlightenment Memorial Complex named after Islam Karimov, paid tribute to the memory of the great son of people of Uzbekistan.

Chairman of the Central Council of the People’s Democratic Party of Uzbekistan H.Ketmonov, head of the Scientific Enlightenment Memorial Complex named after Islam Karimov, T.Shirinov and others noted that Islam Karimov made an invaluable contribution to the development of our country’s political system, ensured establishment of democratic principles in our society, was a consistent supporter of development of a multi-party system.

Development of the national parliamentary system is inextricably linked with the name of Islam Karimov. In particular, the first reforms carried out in the parliamentary sphere were reflected in the elections to the Supreme Council that were held in February-March 1990. Proposal on formation of a bicameral parliament was also forwarded by the First President of our country Islam Karimov.

Contribution of the First President of our country to the formation of foundations of the national legislation is also enormous. He is rightfully the author of the Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan, which fully meets all democratic requirements and international criteria.
