THE INTENSIVE GARDENS IN JARKURGAN DISTRICT

The opening of the intensive gardens, organized by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH (German Corporation for International Cooperation) GmbH held in Jarkurgan district of Surkhandarya region.

The event was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture and Water Resources of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Uzbek Research Institute of Plant Industry, the Board of Farmers, Surkhandarya regional administration, the regional State Forestry, regional territorial management of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan, as well as heads of horticultural farms.

Director of Uzbek Research Institute of Plant Industry Amir Omonov, Deputy Director of the project of the German Corporation for International Cooperation (GIZ) Johanna Volmaer and others noted that constant attention which is paid to the development of farming in Uzbekistan contributes to the capacity of the economy, well-being of the population, providing consumers with quality and vitamin-rich food products.

Today, in Surkhandarya region, an area of intensive orchards accounts for 2592 hectares. This year horticultural farms have created extensive gardens on another 1299 hectares.

A garden of 5 hectares was created by the German Corporation for International Cooperation (GIZ) in the territory of Surkhandarya Experimental Station of the Uzbek Research Institute of Plant Industry.

During the event, specialists and farmers acquainted with the development of seedlings in the new intensive garden, techniques of care and pest control, shared experience.
