Yesterday, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a videoconference on improving the conditions of medical and social institutions in the country was held in the capital’s boarding school for hearing-impaired children No. 102, reports “Dunyo” IA correspondent.
According to the press service of the President of Uzbekistan, at the beginning of his speech, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev recalled the verse from the Surah Ar-Rahman of the Holy Quran: “The reward of goodness is nothing but goodness”.
Respect for the older generation and assistance to those in need are qualities deeply rooted in the national consciousness of our people. So, during the pandemic, the Nationwide Movement Kindness and Support became widespread, whose participants helped those in need, overcame difficulties and trials together.
The exaltation of human dignity and the support of the population in need of care and support is the important direction of the social policy of Uzbekistan.
An example of the good work carried out in this direction is the Presidential Decree of March 25, 2021, which defines measures to provide social support to the elderly and persons with disabilities for the improvement of Sakhovat and Muruvvat boarding houses. In particular, the Agency for the Development of Medical and Social Services has been created, Sakhovat and Muruvvat houses, sanatoriums and boarding houses for veterans, and several other medical and social institutions have been transferred to its jurisdiction.
The salaries of managers and doctors of Sakhovat, Muruvvat houses, and the Republican Boarding House of Veterans have been increased by 1.5 times, and the salaries of junior and mid-level medical workers of these institutions have been increased by 2 times.
A medical examination of 9.4 thousand elderly and persons with disabilities living in these boarding houses, as well as 18 thousand single citizens, was conducted.
Together with Zamin Foundation, more than 2 thousand hearing-impaired children were provided with digital hearing aids, and 11 specialized boarding schools were equipped with auxiliary voice devices. 900 children with disabilities were provided with prosthetic and orthopedic products, 1100 people were provided with wheelchairs.
At the meeting, hokims reported on the results of visits to medical and social institutions in their regions, the state of affairs, and the identified problems.
In particular, the need for the construction of additional buildings in 12, dormitories, kitchens, a medical department, a gym in 7, repair of heating and cooling systems in 21 houses of Sakhovat and Muruvvat, was noted. In addition, 6 orphanages and 11 boarding schools for children with disabilities need to be repaired.
The President instructed the responsible persons to once again carefully study the condition of all medical and social institutions and prepare a draft government resolution providing for the necessary construction and repair work in 2022-2024.
It was instructed to establish a system of full medical examination, rehabilitation and recreation of the elderly, persons with disabilities living in such institutions.
It was emphasized that many children from orphanages are returning to their families, and 10 Mehribonlik houses, 3 children’s towns and 2 orphanages are closed as unnecessary.
“The decrease in the number of orphanages and their children testifies to the high spirituality and nobility of our people. But how nice it would be if there were no orphans in our country at all! Therefore, it is necessary to take all possible measures for their adoption by worthy families”, Shavkat Mirziyoyev said.
The directors of medical and social institutions made suggestions and opinions.
The tasks were set for the transformation of mahallas into a well-maintained and green environment, the intensification of cultural-enlightenment activities.
