The historic visit of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to New York City to participate in the events of the 80th anniversary session of the UN General Assembly has concluded.
During his stay in the United States, the President of Uzbekistan addressed the General Debate of the 80th anniversary session of the General Assembly, with particular emphasis on the role of the UN as the leading platform for resolving the most pressing global challenges, as well as on the irreversible reforms being carried out in New Uzbekistan.
The Leader of Uzbekistan put forward several proposals and initiatives aimed at addressing the most pressing issues on the international and regional agendas, ensuring peace and sustainable development.
The central event of the visit was the meeting between the President of Uzbekistan and the President of the United States Donald Trump. The leaders of the two countries agreed to strengthen the strategic partnership and expand practical cooperation between Uzbekistan and the United States.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev also held talks with the UN Secretary-General António Guterres, President of the Republic of Korea Lee Jae Myung, King Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein of Jordan, President of the Czech Republic Petr Pavel, President of Albania Bajram Begaj, as well as Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund Kristalina Georgieva, World Bank Group President Ajay Banga, and WTO Director-General Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala.
The President of Uzbekistan received U.S. Special Envoy for South and Central Asia Sergio Gor, Co-Chair of the Caucus on Uzbekistan in the U.S. Congress, Congressman Trent Kelly.
The business program of the visit was also intensive. The Leader of Uzbekistan held a roundtable with representatives of the U.S. business community, as well as negotiations with the heads of several leading multinational companies, corporations, investment funds, and financial institutions – including Traxys, FLSmidth, McKinsey, Go Green Partners, the Colorado School of Mines, BlackRock, Boeing Global, Franklin Templeton, Citigroup, Air Products, BNY, Jefferies, Nasdaq, Oppenheimer, Air Products, and many others.
Following the meetings and negotiations, a medium-term program of projects was formed. In the presence of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan and U.S. Special Envoy for South and Central Asia Sergio Gor, a ceremony was held for the exchange of signed bilateral trade contracts and investment agreements, including in the fields of critical minerals, civil aviation, the chemical industry, energy, and other priority areas.
Following his visit to the United States, the President of Uzbekistan, in accordance with tradition, met with a group of compatriots working and residing in the United States, as well as scholarship holders from the “El-Yurt Umidi” Foundation studying at leading American universities.
Upon conclusion of the visit, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev departed for Tashkent.
