The President of Uzbekistan discusses new interaction areas with the IMF Managing Director

On September 18, the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received the Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund, Kristalina Georgieva, at his residence in New York City, reports “Dunyo” IA correspondent.

According to the press service of the Head of state, views were exchanged on the development of the global economic situation. Issues of further enhancing mutually beneficial cooperation with the IMF were considered, including in the context of the agreements reached during a bilateral meeting in Samarkand in June this year.

The IMF Managing Director appreciated the results of the ongoing program of irreversible reforms in Uzbekistan and expressed readiness to continue close cooperation in promoting effective reforms in the country.

At the meeting, issues of the IMF’s participation in conducting a comprehensive analysis of the sustainability of the national financial sector, providing advisory assistance in developing proposals for improving economic policy, and implementing a program to increase the capacity of specialists from departments of Uzbekistan were discussed.
