The President of Uzbekistan launches the most prominent energy projects

President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev took part in the launch ceremony of projects for connecting a modern combined cycle power plant with a capacity of 1,500 megawatts to the power supply network in Syrdarya region and the start of construction of a pilot production of green hydrogen in Tashkent region, implemented jointly with the leading Saudi Arabia’s ACWA Power.

It should be noted that the thermal power plant project in Syrdarya worth $1.1 billion will cover the electricity needs of over 3 million households and hundreds of industrial enterprises.

In addition, for the first time in the region, a unique enterprise for the production of green hydrogen is being created. As part of this pilot project in our country, at the first stage, 3 thousand tons of hydrogen will be produced with subsequent processing into mineral fertilizers, and a wind station with a capacity of 52 megawatts will be created.

Large energy projects worth $7.5 billion are being successfully implemented in Uzbekistan with the participation of ACWA Power.

The launch of these projects will contribute to the creation of 25 gigawatts of renewable energy capacity by 2030, saving 4.5 billion cubic meters of gas and reducing harmful emissions into the atmosphere by up to 3 million tons.
